Count in a circle and replace every multiple of 7—and every number containing a 7—with 'Buzz'. One mistake or hesitation and you drink.
Buzz looks like a simple children's game until the drinks start mixing in. Players count out loud in a circle, but any number that is a multiple of 7 or contains the digit 7 must be replaced with the word 'Buzz'. As soon as someone makes a mistake or gets stuck on the next number, they drink and the count resets back to one. The first twenty numbers are a breeze, but after a few rounds, even fourteen becomes an unexpected mathematical challenge.
Players sit in a circle. The first player starts the count at 1.
Continue clockwise, with each player saying the next number in sequence.
The Buzz Rule: Any number that is a multiple of 7 (7, 14, 21...) or contains the digit 7 (7, 17, 27...) must be replaced with the word 'Buzz'.
If you say the wrong number, forget to say 'Buzz', or hesitate too long, take a drink and the count resets to the beginning.
Keep playing until your tongue starts twisting or until you conquer the number one hundred.
Add 'Fizz' for multiples of 5. Numbers divisible by both 5 and 7 become 'Fizz Buzz'.
A simpler version using 3s instead of 7s for a faster start.
