Count to 21 together. Whoever reaches the goal makes up a new rule that everyone must follow.
Cheers to the Governor is a memory game that starts simple and ends in total chaos. Players take turns counting from 1 to 21. Once someone successfully says '21', everyone drinks, and that player adds a new rule for the next round (e.g., clap instead of saying 7). Rules accumulate until the simple counting becomes an impossible puzzle.
Sit in a circle. No cards or dice are needed, just full glasses and a good memory. Decide who starts and the direction of play.
Players take turns one by one in a clockwise direction, calling out numbers from 1 to 21 in sequence.
If someone makes a mistake, hesitates, or forgets an active rule, they must drink, and the count immediately resets and starts over from one.
When the group successfully reaches 21, everyone drinks together to celebrate the 'governor'.
The player who said 21 creates a new rule for the next round. For example: 'say your neighbor's name instead of 5', 'swap numbers 7 and 11', or 'change direction on number 10'.
All created rules remain in effect until the end of the game. The more rules there are, the harder it is to complete a round.
The game ends when there are so many rules that no one is able to count to 21 without making a mistake.
You only have one second to answer. Any 'umms' or thinking leads to an immediate penalty sip.
Rules cannot change words but must add physical tasks. On 5 you must stand up, on 12 you must high-five your neighbor.
